Our Philosophy
The dream of starting Matia Eyewear was born on a family holiday to Greece. We were married on one of our first trips to Greece in 1996 and had not returned for 20 years. The moment our children stepped foot in Greece, we knew instantly that we must re-introduce them to all the wonderful things that Greece and Greek culture stood for ; philosophy, medicine, architecture, craftsmanship and most importantly pride in everything you do. We have taken these ideals and used them as pillars to start our own eyewear business. Our aim is to offer a unique concierge service and custom design, while displaying a modern Greek ethos.
Design

The eye is the lamp of the body. You draw light into your body through your eyes, and light shines out to the world through your eyes.
We believe in the beauty and grace of individuality, therefore we design every frame with that same mindset. We were all born unique and our eyeglasses should reflect our own spirit. We will design your eyeglasses with your input and our belief that the eyes are the window to your soul. Materials
In accordance with our beliefs, our frame manufacturer only sources the finest materials. Our cotton acetate and titanium comes from Japan and our buffalo horn is ethically sourced from southeast Asia. Our accessories are handmade and assembled in New York with leather, silver, brass and matia beads from Greece. We support small businesses and believe in the dedication and craftsmanship of these fellow artisans.
